Making Sense of Complexity Together
The Institute for Sustainable Human Performance helps individuals and organizations make sense of complex situations through research, practice, and co-creation.

/ WHY WE EXIST
Why This Institute Exists
The Institute is an independent research–practice platform dedicated to understanding how people and organizations learn, make decisions, and sustain performance in increasingly complex environments.
Organizations today operate in a world shaped by rapid technological change, growing uncertainty, and increasing performance demands. Leaders and professionals are often required to make important decisions before clear answers or established practices exist.
Questions about learning, sustainable performance, well-being, leadership, and the responsible use of technologies such as artificial intelligence have therefore become central to how individuals and organizations adapt and evolve.
The Institute exists to create a space where these complex questions can be explored through research-informed dialogue, diverse perspectives, and collaborative sense-making, transforming uncertainty into insights that inform both practice and future research.

How We Collaborate
The Institute for Sustainable Human Performance is a collaborative initiative led by Dr. Andreea Nicolau and developed through collaboration with researchers and professionals from different disciplines and organizations who contribute their expertise to Open Questions, Sense-Making Labs, and collaborative projects. Together, they bring complementary research, experience, and organizational perspectives that enrich the Institute's exploration of complex questions and help generate research-informed insights for both organizations and the wider community.
As the Institute grows, we aim to expand this network through research collaborations and partnerships that strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and organizational practice.
“In my work with leaders and organizations, I often saw people facing complex questions without the space to think them through together. I founded the Institute to create those spaces where research, experience, and dialogue help transform uncertainty into learning and sustainable performance.”
— Dr. Andreea Nicolau, Founder
